We will always be transparent about our ingredients!

A colourful drawing of different fruits

Mother of Pearl will always strive to use ingredients of the highest quality available, often choosing certified-organic products that are locally grown and processed. In the case that these local Austrian goods are not available, we choose alternatives that are from neighboring countries to ensure our carbon footprint stays small.

Natural ingredients make all the difference, which is why we will always incorporate fresh ingredients that are without any added sugars, preservatives, colourings, and flavours. We use actual whole fruits and real juice in our drinks - you won't find any artificial powders or syrups at Mother of Pearl.

We also pledge to support small businesses and farmers whenever possible, as we recognise the importance of their role in the economic market and can understand the impact of what difference one purchase can make.

A drawing of a blue milk cartoon

We understand the ethical and environmental issues surrounding cow's milk, which is why we offer oat and soy milk as an alternative. Lactose-free milk is also an option for those with any intolerances. Should the demand arise, we will be happy to include other alternatives like almond or rice milk!

A drawing of taro, the root vegetable

Taro is a root vegetable native to South-East Asia. With a brown exterior, white-purple speckled interior, and a mildly sweet and nutty taste, taro is much loved across the world. It is very common to add purple yam (ube) to enhance the sweetness and give a vibrant purple colour.

A drawing of a brown coffee bean bag

Coffee bean farmers face many exploitations, which is why we guarantee the use of beans that ensure fair wages and safe working  environments. In the future, we hope to incorporate Thai and Vietnamese coffee beans once a more sustainable transport method is found.

A drawing on the cassava root

Tapioca is actually the name of the starch extracted from the cassava root. Although the plant is native to South America, it is also a large source of carbohydrates to many countries in Africa and Asia, with tapioca starch and flour being incorporated into many sweet and savoury recipes.
